Petal It Forward is October 15, 2025

We all need a little kindness now more than ever, right? Here's a way to spread goodwill in your community and help promote the positive health benefits of giving and receiving flowers. Participate in this year's 2025 Petal It Forward campaign and spread kindness in your community.

For the past decade, thousands of floral industry members in all 50 states have organized their teams on one day in October to take part in Petal It Forward. This is a goodwill initiative sponsored by the Society of American Florists (SAF) where participants hand two flowers or bouquets to an unsuspecting stranger, urging them to keep one and share the other with someone else. It’s a powerful way to illustrate the positive health benefits of giving and receiving flowers.

Here's what you can do this week:

1. Register your business with SAF. They can provide support to your team and keep an accurate count of the Petal It Forward participants nationwide.

2. Coordinate with partners. Reach out to your wholesaler and local businesses in your community to see how you can work together to maximize the impact of your event.

3. Craft a plan for the day. Decide where and what time you will pass out your flowers, choose a high traffic location, figure out if permits might be needed, discuss your team’s workload and availability, product availability and any other factors.

4. Encourage staff and recipients to take photos and share on social media. Tag SAF so they can share your stories and use the hashtag #petalitforward in your social media.
