For the past 7 years, the Society of American Florists has launched a national campaign called "Petal It Forward". It is a goodwill initiative where participants hand two flowers or two bouquets to an unsuspecting stranger, urging them to keep one and share the other with someone else.
It is a great way to spread goodwill in your community and help promote the positive health benefits of giving and receiving flowers. Science has proven flowers reduce stress and anxiety and make people happy. What better way to do this than to surprise a few folks with the gift of flowers.
Here's a few tips to help you plan the event:
Partner with your wholesaler or supplier to get single stems or bouquets of flowers.
Craft a plan for how you will pass out flowers/bouquets on Oct. 19. Use this as an opportunity to promote your shop and gain attention from the media.
Encourage staff and recipients to take photos and share on social media. Tag SAF so we can share your stories and use #petalitforward!
This year "Petal it Forward" takes place on Wednesday, October 19th. As part of the program, we will be offering customers two bouquet specials:
Baboo Bouquet - Pre-made nosegay style bouquet of 22 stems/6 assorted colors - Packed 16 bunches per box $7.50 per bunch
Dozen Rose Bouquet - with greens and gyp - assortment of 8 color/8 red - Packed 16 bunches per box $7.50 per bunch

Delivery will take place on Monday, October 17th.
