The first day of Spring is today, March 20th. We can feel it - the grass is getting greener, the days are longer, the birds are busy nesting and hunting for food, daffodils are starting to show off their green sprouts. Folks are out and about shopping in garden centers. Social media is alive with spring ideas to refresh your home, get your garden projects started and decorate for Easter. All are signs that winter will soon be a distant memory and we can stay out in the sunshine a little longer.

Want to Spring forward with some ideas? Here are a few tips:

Promote Spring inspiration throughout your store. Flowering branches and pots of tulips, daffodils and hyacinths will put customers in the mood. Now is a great time to put on an indoor plant sale to refresh a customer's living space.

Pot up some baskets of bulb plants. These make great gifts for Spring, changing up the traditional Easter lily gift. You can do a lot of great plant creations in a basket. You don't need to buy expensive baskets - check out second hand stores and Goodwill for some treasures. Make sure they are deep enough for planting and line them with heavy duty plastic to keep plants intact.

Teach a Spring workshop. You can create a fun, hands on workshop making Spring arrangements. Be sure to include added items, like faux nests, eggs and colorful ribbons.

Flood your social media with "how to" videos. We all love step by step guides that keep us engaged. Create a short video on your website or social media showing customers how to plant an outdoor planter. You can plant staples that will last through the spring and summer, and switch out some blooming plants as the weather gets warmer.

Spring is a great time to refresh and renew. With all the news and chaos surrounding us, it's good to know that Mother Nature continues to ground us with hope and inspiration.
