"Gal"entine's Day

Get ready for a bonus holiday this week! In our last blog, we talked about the importance of marketing to women as well as men on Valentines Day. Well now there's an "old made new" holiday worthy of celebrating, coined "Galentine's Day", which is celebrated on February 13, a day before the official Valentine's Day. This is a day to celebrate gals and guys in your life - to show them you love them. Like "Friendsgiving", this holiday has been around for several years, but is making a bigger splash this year more than ever.

In a recent survey of 2000 females, conducted by One Poll, 89% of females said their friendships with other women are even more important since COVID hit, and 56% of respondents said they would rather quarantine with their closest female friend than a romantic partner. Typically, the women surveyed have had friendships that lasted 12 or more years and 47% believe the pandemic has brought them closer together with their female friends.

With this in mind, you're likely to see advertising geared toward female friendships, as well as traditional advertising directed toward men this holiday. Galentine's Day might be the new millennial "girl" holiday overtaking social media in the coming days. Stay tuned....

you can barely remember what life was like without them."
