Spring at Shelland Farm

Spring starts early here at Shelland Farm. By mid December, we propagate and test new offerings for the season.  On any given day in January and February the greenhouse is filled with trays of seedlings and bulbs popping up and waiting to be planted in the fields.

Meander through our greenhouse during the early weeks of March and you’ll see a variety of anemones, butterfly ranunculus, pansies, violas, tulips and more.  Most of our bulb and cold weather plants stay in the greenhouse for the season until they mature and are ready for sale.  Once the fields are clear of snow and the ground is an even 50+  degrees, we plant our late Spring and early Summer seedlings. By the middle of May they begin their spectacular journey throughout the season. Take a peek at what is in our greenhouse now.
